Gallery

(Okay, so it's not the most sophisticated gallery in the world.) Click for big.

Vikasitakamalasana (Blossoming Lotus), which is honestly fun

Blossoming Lotus, with slightly more inner peace

Baddha Utthita Parsvakonasana (Bound Extended Side Angle), with additional inner peace

Ardha Padmasana (Half Lotus), head to floor

A fancy version of Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose), which is harder than it looks

A fun Ardha Chandrasana (Half Moon) Variation
(Sidebar: magazine yoginis are often doing this with
the foot poking up, which is incorrect, according to
my instructor. It should be right behind the bum.)

Another Bridge - I told you it was hard

Good ol' Natarajasana (Dancer Pose) - I know my face looks weird, but we took a LOT of terrible natarajasana pictures

Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog) Variation
(Sidebar: This variation is fun because in flipping your leg over, your shoulder naturally wants to follow. The challenge is putting the twist in the torso instead, and keeping your shoulders level. I did not exactly succeed here, as you see.)

Downward Dog Variation
(...and doing a lot worse at it here.)

Downward Dog Variation
Down dog was starting to get a little stale when I learned this variation, and suddenly it was brand-new again

Plain vanilla Downward Dog

Urdva Dhanursana (Upward-Facing Bow, or Wheel Pose)

Tolasana, Lolasana, Scale Pose, whatever and yes, I am fully off the ground - HOO-WA

Trikonasana (Triangle Pose), which first got me hooked in 2002

Anjaneyasana (Crescent Moon Pose), and I think this is a variation but I have no idea whether the "actual" pose has the back knee on the floor or not

Utthan Pristhasana (Lizard Pose), which is sort of hard to get from a picture

Another view of Anjaneyasana

Utthan Pristhasana (Lizard Pose) again, this time a little more comprehensible, if crappier in picture quality

Uttanansana (Standing Forward Bend) Variation
(Sidebar: this is the version they do in Bikram after the initial standing backbends. Grab the bottoms of your heels, press your torso into your thighs and your face into your shins, pull on your heels, "from the side you should look like a Japanese ham sandwich".)

Dwi Pada Viparita Dandasana, which translates as something related to upward staff pose, although this looks nothing like staff pose, in part because my legs should be straight

Ha ha, not done with Lizard Pose yet!

Matsyasana (Fish Pose) - don't try this at home, some lady apparently had a stroke because of it

Matsyasana with laughter variation, and a boyfriend in the background

Virabhadrasana II (Warrior II), which you have likely done if you've ever taken a yoga class

Urdhva Mukha Svanasana (Upward-Facing Dog), which is sometimes taught with the thighs on the floor, which I do not get

Ustrasana (Camel Pose), Look Ma No Hands Variation

Mukta Hasta Sirsana (Tripod Headstand), and in this event I got up entirely on my own steam - no wall required!

Just restin'

Padmasana (Full Lotus), positively dripping with inner peace

Namaste (the light within me bows to the light within you)

Unbelievably sloppy Dandasana...I mean, thanks for looking!
